WIL Speaker Series: Women & Whiskey - March 2017

In honor of Women’s History Month, WIL held a “Women and Whiskey” event to kick off our speaker events this year. The event was held at Audubon Country Club with best-selling author, Fred Minnick, and Angel’s Envy Distillery’s Brand Home Manager, Dee Ford. Fred shared a wide assortment of historical facts showcasing how invaluable women were (and are) to the whiskey industry and Dee shared her personal career working in the bourbon industry. AND we enjoyed a fantastic bourbon & whiskey tasting as well!

If you haven’t heard Fred Minnick speak, you’re really missing out! We were honor to have him join Women Influencing Louisville this month! Fred balanced humor and knowledge in an engaging, approachable way! Fred shares several little known facts specifically focused on women, including "This is what I found out through my research...women distillery owners compared to the men, had a philanthropic heart. They cared about their workers, and they cared about their villages."

A special thanks to Dee Ford for sharing her career with over 50 women. As Dee shared, always ask for what you want. If you don’t, others may not know your career desires. Go for those stretch assignments. Lean in and be sure to get yourself a seat at the table. Referencing Setting the Table, Dee stressed to remember hospitality – how you feel about the service – is critical to success, showing someone you care and are on their side makes a world of difference.
